the kids and i take turns telling stories to each
other. This normally happens at night, when tucking
the kids in.
The storytelling session at GK started off with doing
an MI analysis on the hindi classroom song we'd seen
on Youtube. Then we did a presentation. I'm getting
better at understanding and applying MI now. But this
exercise also shook me up a bit; i need to deepen my
understanding about teamwork. Or perhaps the key is
communication -- how to convey your thoughts
effectively and respectfully.
Using everyday objects (we used a sheet of paper),
making them into characters and building stories
around them was stimulating. I should try this with
my children.
Most amazing was how we started off with a snapshot of
a scene, and then each of us came up with before/after
scenes until we had a story. It's a fabulous idea for
children's birthday party activity.
During this session, i also learned about the ways i
don't always show respect in class.
