Session Review 11th Sept

The session on Activity - I am not sure how much of this session I took away. When I started the day, I was not sure whether I would even attend the session becoz my daughter was not well - I had decided that I would attend it even if I was late. Aditi's mail on what is our instant reaction when our children fall ill, helped me in trying our other options than to just "bunk" the class.

However, the entire session, my mind was distracted and was constantly looking at the clock and the time and worried about how my daughter would be....

The session started with us figuring out different games with the help of bottle caps - games which are focussed around specific MIs.

This in turn helped us in figuring out the difference between and "ACTIVITY" and not an activity. Open-ended GOALS and open ended HOW to reach the goal. I was reflecting on it and I realised how much my HOM needs to change still - Old habits of having to HAVE an answer prevented me from listening to the games suggested by the other participants - in fact I could not control myself when suddenly an idea came and I HAD to express myself...

How to design ACTIVITIES which are open ended - GOAL and HOW was what we discussed next. What was interesting was that when the activity became open-ended, I realised how little I knew of the topic and there were so many questions that I needed to seek answers to.

We then looked at the ACTIVITY framework that Geniekids uses and which we will be using when we start designing activities for kids.
