sand activity

Sand activity

a) One sand activity that one can do with children
Make a heap of sand and on the heap, make a path so that any object kept on the peak rolls down the hill and comes back and halts at the foot of the hill. Make a hole near the foot of the hill. Kids can play marbles one-by-one on the peak and see whose marble enters the hole (like golf ball). Make 2 groups based on whose marbles went inside the hole or not. Then they can play tug-of-war.

b) One innovative (preferably junk material, eg., caps of bottle, medicine dispenser) that can be used as a sand toy by kids – do remember to add a few ideas on how to use it.
Kids can use bottle caps, medicine dispenser, empty matchboxes, orange or musambi cup shaped peels, carton boxes, used pen refills, coconut shells, thermocol.
Kids can make weighing scales out of coconut shells, cup shaped fruit peels using thread and stick. They can play as vegetable vendors making shapes of vegetables in sand. They can make train using matchboxes, they can make wagons using carton boxes and bottle caps as wheels.

c) One group game children can play which is specified to sand (2-6 years).
They can hide something in the heap of sand and ask the other person to find it.
Kids can make wagons using carton boxes and bottle caps as wheels and let them decide the starting point and the ending point. They can pull their wagon with the help of a string on the sand and watch whose wagon reaches the end point without any breakdown in between.
Kids can make different animals, flowers, fruits, plants etc using thermocol and they can create forests, parks, zoo, ponds using all these characters on sand.
