No amount of reading my course material gave me this much insight and exposure, as much as being associated with geniekids for hardly two months.
I sincerely take this opportunity to convey my heartfelt gratitude to you and others.
Also thank you, to give me the real feel of a virtual classroom. Since it was the first experience for me, i felt lack of human touch and human flavour. But to cut down on the geographical distances yes it is still a great idea.
Just to re brief about me learnings today (as I was feeling quite nervous at that time while asked for...)
Learnings about children:
1. They are very energetic and bubbly all the times
2. Being curious is their nature
3. Children are great self learners.
Learnings about the environment:
1. No high funda ergonomics required, in fact, a huge empty hall with a lot of empty space was just enough
2. A clean and a comfortable hall essential
Learnings about the teaching..
(With the example of words to be taught today were perseverance, gratitude.) I observed that
1. Mini did not give any ready made solutions, in fact, instigated the children themselves to find out
2. Then she created awareness among the children by using these words appropriately as and when required
3. Thereby reinforcing and giving it to them.
Last but not the least Learning about myself...
1. To break all my beliefs about being rigid and to be more flexible
2. To stop stepping in and allowing them to let go
3. To instigate children to find their own answers to their curiosity.
