It is simply redirecting and helping themWhile driving back yesterday after the session, I was thinking about "Time-Out" and my version of it.
Just to clarify, the way we practice time-out at home is not by making the child go out of the house or making them sit in the corner, making them feel alone etc...
Our definition of Time-Out that we practice at home is a bit different and as follows:
--taking the child out of the situation,
--talking to them and letting them come out of the situation on their own (NO Suggestions)
-- a little hugh and encouragement
So, maybe I have termed it wrong all this while.....it is not a punishment, but a pointer to help the child to control his own emotions. I always was in this "BELIEF"...taking the child out of the situation was a punishment.
Thank you for bringing this to my knowledge and making me aware. Your thoughts most welcome.
Just another quick note: when I read any article/GK books, your words speaks louder than my mind. I hear your voice ringing in my head....So KUDOS!
your job is done.
Regards, Kirthana
